BURBANK BOULEVARD IS CLOSED AT I-5 FOR BRIDGE DEMOLITION AND RECONSTRUCTION
Burbank Boulevard is closed to all traffic between San Fernando Boulevard and Front Street in Burbank for demolition and reconstruction of the Burbank Boulevard Bridge over Interstate 5. This closure is expected to continue until summer 2021, weather permitting and subject to change.
For demolition of the bridge, I-5 will be closed to all traffic in both directions from 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2020, to 2 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2020. All dates and times are subject to change.
During bridge demolition and reconstruction, Burbank Boulevard at I-5 will be closed at all times to all traffic: vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle. The northbound I-5 off-ramp to eastbound Burbank Boulevard generally will be open to traffic except during several closures, each lasting up to 55 hours.
Nine (9) freeway crossings are open and accessible:
1. Hollywood Way
2. Cohasset Street
3. Buena Vista Street
4. Empire Avenue
5. Magnolia Boulevard
6. Olive Avenue
7. Verdugo Avenue
8. Flower Street
9. Alameda Avenue
Five (5) freeway interchanges are open and accessible:
1. Hollywood Way
2. Buena Vista Street
3. Empire Avenue
4. Verdugo Avenue
5. Alameda Avenue
The northbound I-5 off-ramp to eastbound Burbank Boulevard will remain open except for a few 55-hour weekend closures. (Long-term or permanent closures are underway at the four other I-5 on/off ramps at Burbank Boulevard.)
ABOUT THE NEW BURBANK BOULEVARD BRIDGE
The new bridge overcrossing will be lengthened to accommodate the new I-5 carpool lanes, and the on-ramps and off-ramps will be reconfigured. In addition, the bridge will be widened to accommodate more street lanes, bike lanes in both directions and a wider sidewalk.
