Florence Avenue Interchange Project – Week of August 17 – August 24, 2018

This project is 68% complete.
Projected date of completion for the Florence Ave. Bridge: December of 2019.

Northbound I-5 all lanes and corresponding ramps are scheduled to be CLOSED from Rosecrans Blvd. to I-605 from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, August 16 until 5 a.m. Friday, August 17. The closure will allow paving of the new lanes that we are adding to I-5.

Detour signs will direct traffic off northbound I-5 to westbound Rosecrans Blvd. to northbound I-605 back to northbound I-5. Alternate route: westbound State Route 91 (Artesia Freeway) to northbound I-605 to northbound I-5. Detour map below:

Longworth Ave. residents north of Florence Ave: You can look up from Longworth Ave. now and see construction of the sound wall along the Florence Av. on ramp to northbound I-5. Photos below from August 7 and August 14 show progress.  (Tap / click on photos for slide show and details): :

 

Final paving of the new freeway lanes for I-5 continues in the median south of the Florence Ave. Bridge. Once the lanes are paved, there will be a shift in traffic lanes utilizing the new lanes in the median. Photos below from August 7 and August 14 (facing north):

 

Florence Ave.: As of August 3, Florence Ave. is now two lanes in each direction over I-5; there are two left-turn lanes on westbound Florence Ave. at Studebaker Rd.; and there is a left-turn lane on eastbound Florence Ave. at Giant RV. Photos below from August 7:
