Florence Avenue Interchange Project – Week of July 20 – July 27, 2018

Projected date of completion for the Florence Ave. Bridge: December of 2019.

Northbound I-5 ALL LANES will be CLOSED overnights from Rosecrans Blvd. to I -605 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night *Tuesday, July 24 through the night of  Thursday, July 26 to allow the contractor to pour concrete for the new freeway lanes from the overhead bridge at the railroad tracks half way to the Florence Ave. Bridge. The closures may start as early as Monday, July 23; if so we will send an update e-mail and post at My5LA Twitter. These closures are scheduled for separate nights and will re-open each morning. Work will be complete by 5 a.m.  Friday, July 27.

Detour signs will be in place: exit northbound I-5 at Rosecrans Blvd. west to northbound I-605 to northbound I-5.

Alternate route: westbound SR-91 to northbound I-605 to northbound I-5.

Longworth Ave. residents north of Florence Ave: The rebar framework for much of the barrier along Longworth Ave. has been constructed and vertical rebar for the sound wall installed within that framework. Next, the concrete exterior of the barrier will be poured and the block construction of the sound wall may begin. Photos below from July 17: 


On the night of Sunday, July 15 northbound I-5 was closed to allow removal of the old freeway overhead sign north of Florence Ave. The sign is so large that it had to be cut in half. On Tuesday, July 17 the sign was loaded onto a truck for removal. It will be recycled for scrap metal (below):
