Imperial Highway & Pioneer Blvd. Project – Week of July 20 – July 27, 2018

Construction on this project is 85% complete.
Projected date of completion: Late 2018.

Alert: The Norwalk Blvd. off ramp from northbound I-5 is now CLOSED for reconstruction, possibly through late October (photo below). Use the new  Rosecrans Blvd. off ramp from northbound I-5 as an alternate.

Northbound I-5 ALL LANES will be CLOSED overnights from Rosecrans Blvd. to I -605 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night *Tuesday, July 24 through the night of  Thursday, July 26 to allow the contractor to pour concrete for the new freeway lanes from the overhead bridge at the railroad tracks half way to the Florence Ave. Bridge. The closures may start as early as Monday, July 23; if so we will send an update e-mail and post at My5LA Twitter. These closures are scheduled for separate nights and will re-open each morning. Work will be complete by 5 a.m.  Friday, July 27.

Detour signs will be in place: exit northbound I-5 at Rosecrans Blvd. west to northbound I-605 to northbound I-5.

Alternate route: westbound SR-91 to northbound I-605 to northbound I-5.

Site of the former Pioneer Blvd. on ramp to northbound I-5, which closed permanently on May 22,  2018. A retaining wall is under construction here along the east side of I-5, where we are adding lanes to the freeway. Photos from July 10 (below):

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction may be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
