During the next week workers will backfill retaining walls and pour concrete for the south footings of the Valley View Ave. Bridge.

Sewer line and drainage work will continue on Arbor Place from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday Feb. 26 through Thursday, March 1. Vehicles will be permitted  to access businesses on Arbor Place during those hours with flagging. Map and photo below:

On Firestone Blvd. north of the Gateway Drive, initial demolition of the median has begun. Demolition will continue Monday, Feb. 26 & Tuesday, Feb 27. Removal of debris will occur Wednesday, Feb. 28 through Friday, Mar. 2. Hours: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lanes will be restricted at times, but traffic will be permitted through the area at all times (see below):

Along the northeast corner of the intersection of N. Firestone Blvd. at Valley View Ave., crews installed fencing along the north side of Firestone Blvd. and the east side of Valley View Ave. in preparation for construction of a pedestrian access. Portions of those parking lots will be used as a construction area until October (below):

Two driveways to the warehouse on the northeast corner of N. Firestone Blvd. at Valley View Ave. are now blocked: The driveway from N. Firestone Blvd. and the first driveway on Valley View Ave. north of Firestone Blvd (red line). The driveway into the parking lot on Valley View Ave. that is closest to Alondra Blvd. will remain open (green line). When work is complete in October, the closed driveway on Valley View Ave. will be reconstructed and re-opened. Image below:

Upcoming changes:

Valley View Avenue will be elevated to meet with the newly elevated Valley View Avenue Bridge. In turn, N. Firestone Boulevard will be elevated to meet Valley View Avenue. In preparation for these modifications, N. Firestone Blvd. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Gateway Drive and Valley View Avenue as early as late March. Large trucks will not be permitted to drive on this portion of N. Firestone. Access to the entrance of the Holiday Inn La Mirada will remain open (below):

By mid-March, the existing N. Firestone Boulevard will close permanently between Knott Avenue and Trojan Way in La Mirada for demolition to prepare for the widening of I-5 through that area. N. Firestone Boulevard will be rebuilt to the east. The portion of the newly built N. Firestone Boulevard between Knott Avenue and Osmond Avenue is expected to open by early May.

The portion between Osmond Avenue and Trojan Way will remain closed for an additional year to allow demolition and reconstruction of the bridge over Coyote Creek. In preparation, flyers will be distributed to businesses in the immediate area and signs will be placed in strategic locations in the neighborhood advising of the forthcoming closure. Map below:
